SUBMERGED MOORING PONTOON
NEW PRINCIPLE OF DISCONNECTABLE SPREAD MOORING (DSM)
SUBMERGED MOORING PONTOON (SMP)
What is SMP (Submerged Mooring Pontoon)?
SMP is technology that enables mooring of the marine part of floater(FPSO) to be connected to a submerged floating pontoon. This weather resistant mooring facility makes it possible for the floating structure to be disconnected from the mooring lines coming from the seabed temporarily in order to undergo repairs or escape in emergency case.
It can be disconnected and reconnected quickly and efficiently. Installed at 50 meter or more depth beneath water surface, it does not interfere with the operations of the FPSO or passing ships.
SMP provides also with the weathervane function by the forward mooring lines remained.
Dry-Docking of FPSOs
The new mooring system will enable aged FPSOs to leave the production site for dry-docking and undergo repairs, which will prolong lifetime and optimize production.
Easy Evacuation, Re-connection and Resuming Operation
Easy Evacuation from the field in the case of approaching bad weather conditions, and equally easy re-connection of the mooring lines & risers by the connected buoyancies
(cf. spread mooring is installed at the field permanently).
Limitless Risers and No Leakage Risk
Limitless risers installation and no leakage risk without swivel. (cf. turret us restricted at its number of risers and risk of leakage exists at the swivels)
Mooring, Economical & Efficient
SMP application for the FPSO is easy and not expensive.
SMP is placed at mooring site to fit AFT side of the SMP just above the AFT side anchors’ position. At step 1,The AFT mooring lines are connected to the SMP AFT at the sea surface and the SMP is lowered to position 2. At step 2, the SMP is placed at position 3 to have the room length of FWD mooring lines and connection at FWD side. At step 3, the SMP is floated to reach the destined position 4. Finally, the SMP is awaiting the FPSO to be moored above.
